WHAT:

A dedication/ribbon-cutting for the Weave Bridge that provides pedestrian access over the Amtrak rail lines from the main portion of the University of Pennsylvania campus to the athletic fields and ROTC center at the Hollenback Center.

The Weave Bridge is the first structure in the Penn Connects campus development plan to be finished.

WHO:

Penn President Amy Gutmann will be joined by Cecil Balmond, world-renowned structural engineer and designer of the unique bridge, as well as local elected officials, city employees and Penn staff.

DETAILS:

On the east side of 33rd Street, between Spruce Street and Locust Walk, take the path between Franklin Field to the right and the tennis courts to the left. Bear right past the Ringe Squash Courts. Around the corner, take the blue Paley footbridge. On the other side, walk through the chain link gates toward Bower Field. Go under the railroad trestle, turn right and walk down the entire length of Bower field. On the left will be a wooden ramp that leads to the Weave Bridge.
