Frank Lindh to Discuss Case Against His Son "American Taliban" John Walker Lindh at Penn

WHO:  Attorney Frank J. Lindh, father of John Walker Lindh

WHAT: Public lecture

WHEN:  Jan. 13, 2006, 10:30 a.m. to noon

WHERE:Room 109 of the Annenberg School for Communication on Penn's campus

Lindh, an attorney from San Francisco, will speak about the federal case against his son, John Walker Lindh, 20, captured in northern Afghanistan in December 2001 while fighting for the Taliban.  The Annenberg School for Communication along with the Annenberg Scholars Program in Culture and Communication will sponsor the talk.

"John did nothing harmful or disloyal to his native country by briefly serving as a soldier in the national army of Afghanistan, and he never committed any act of a criminal nature, " Lindh said in an issue of Washington Lawyer.  "John's continued incarceration serves no good purpose.  His early release would help restore our nation image in the world, particularly among Muslim people, as a leader in human rights."
