In Lacrosse, Six Women, Six Men Earn All Ivy Honors
Penn’s women’s and men’s lacrosse teams each had six players named to the All-Ivy teams this season.
Shannon Mangini, a junior from Garden City, N.Y., was named unanimous first-team All-Ivy. This marks her first All-Ivy selection. Mangini was also selected as the first-ever Ivy League Midfielder of the Year, in a vote by the League’s coaches.
She was joined as unanimous first-team All-Ivy selections by defender Meg Markham and goalie Lucy Ferguson. Leading scorer Meredith Cain was named second-team All-Ivy, Maddie Poplawski picked up her third career All-Ivy honor with second-team All-Ivy distinction at midfield and Caroline Bunting earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy distinction from the coaches
From Penn’s men’s team, six players received All-Ivy recognition -- three first-teamers, a second-teamer and two honorable mentions. That marked the most players named All-Ivy from the program since 1986.
On defense, senior Anthony Santomo was a unanimous selection as first-team All-Ivy. Junior Zack Losco was named first-team All-Ivy in the midfield, while classmate Brian Feeney was the pick as first-team All-Ivy goalie. This marks the first time that Penn has had three first-team All-Ivy selections since 1984.
Also garnering honors were senior attackman Tim Schwalje, who received second-team All-Ivy recognition on attack, junior midfielder Drew Belinsky and junior defenseman Maxx Meyer, received All-Ivy honorable mention.
