PHILADELPHIA — The Living Independently for Elders program, a service owned and operated by the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, is celebrating its 10th anniversary of providing al-inclusive health care to more than 650 Southwest and West Philadelphia seniors with a cake-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, May 13. from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Through LIFE, the chronic care needs of older adults are provided for the center itself, allowing members who would otherwise need nursing-home care the option to remain in their homes and receive preventative, primary, acute and long-term health services at the LIFE center at 4508 Chestnut St.
When the LIFE center opened in 1998, it served fewer than a dozen people from West and Southwest Philadelphia. Today, the average daily census at LIFE is 200.
NOTE: This event is only open to the media.
