The Center for Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania will sponsor a public discussion on critical theory featuring six of the nation's most critically acclaimed African-American scholars:

  • Michael Eric Dyson, Avalon Professor in the Humanities at the University of Pennsylvania
  • Cornel West, professor of religion at Princeton University
  • Molefe Asante, professor of African-American studies at Temple
    University
  • Tricia Rose, professor of American studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz
  • T. Denean Sharpley-Whiting, chair of Africana studies at Hamilton College
  • Barbara Smith, publisher and independent scholar

The discussion will be moderated by Tukufu Zuberi, professor of sociology and director of Penn's Center for Africana Studies. The event will be free and open to the public.
