As we continue to receive reports from Chile regarding the widespread damage and serious injuries caused by the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck on Saturday, our thoughts and prayers are with those who are anxiously awaiting news about family and friends.

I am pleased to report that all three Penn undergraduates currently studying abroad in the city of Santiago are safe and in contact with the University. And while communication in and out of Chile remains difficult, we at Penn are doing what we can to help students with family there reach loved ones.
