Mr. and Ms. Penn Body Building Competition

Students Compete for Mr. and Ms. Penn Titles

Oct. 30, 2003

PHILADELPHIA - University of Pennsylvania students often compete using their brains, but they'll be using their bodies to challenge each other when they meet Nov. 10 in the Mr. and Ms. Penn bodybuilding competition.

More than two dozen Penn undergraduate and graduate students will take part in the annual fundraiser for the Penn women's track team.  Tony Tenisci, assistant coach of women's track and field, trains with the students for about two months, giving advice on nutrition, workout regimens and posing and presentation techniques.  The training builds their bodies and their minds.

" It's psychology, biology, chemistry, marketing.  You can apply what you're doing here as part of the learning experience," Tenisci said, adding that many students become more self confident after the competition because they've developed new skills.

The competition will be held at the Annenberg Center at 37th and Walnut streets at 7 p.m.  The admission price is $8 per person.
