Penn Alexander School Students Planting Flowering Trees April 22 in Celebration of Earth Day

WHO: Penn Alexander School students  

WHAT: Each class will plant a flowering tree on the school grounds in celebration of Earth Day, as a spring project of the PAS Student Council.    

WHERE: Penn Alexander School, 43rd and Locust Sts., Philadelphia

WHEN: Beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the Kindergarten classes

10:30 a.m. 1st grade classes

11:10 a.m. 2nd grade  

11:50 a.m. 5th grade

12:30 p.m. 3rd grade

1:10 p.m. 6th grade

1:45 p.m. 7th grade

The children will be taught how to plant trees by volunteers from UC Green, a community greening organization in West Philadelphia.  

Reporters and photographers will also have the opportunity to tour the school's rain garden, enhanced by new signage, courtesy of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Growing Greener program.  

In the case of inclement weather, the planting will be held on the next available day.
