Public Citizens for Children and Youth
WHEN: Wednesday, April 1, 2015
9 a.m.–3 p.m.
WHERE: Penn Dental Medicine, 240 S. 40th St.
WHY: Tooth decay is the No. 1 disease children face, and approximately 17,000 children in Philadelphia are not enrolled in health insurance and do not receive regular dental care. PCCY organizes Give Kids a Smile Day to provide children with free dental care and also to help enroll families in public health insurance programs. About 2,500 children have received free dental care through PCCY’s Give Kids a Smile Day since its inception 12 years ago.
Students and faculty from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine will provide free dental care to 75 area children during the 12th annual Give Kids a Smile Day on Wednesday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Penn Dental Medicine is one of 12 dental practices taking part in the annual day of care organized by Public Citizens for Children and Youth. The 12 dental practices in West Philadelphia and Delaware County will treat 380 children during Give Kids a Smile Day. Members of the press are invited to take photos and video of Penn dentists treating children.
