PHILADELPHIA -- The School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania will offer free dental care for children aged 5-12 on Friday, Feb. 6, as a part of the School's participation in the American Dental Association's "Give Kids a Smile Day."
A limited number of appointments are available at 10 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. by calling 215-746-4096. Parents must accompany their children to the Schattner Center, 240 S. 40th St., Philadelphia, where the care will be administered.
During the appointments, each child's teeth will be examined, X rayed and cleaned. If needed according to the findings, more extensive treatment such as fillings will be done. Preventive care, including fluoride treatments and sealants, will also be available. Parents will be given a report on the care performed that day and additional care that may be needed.
