Penn to Host G20 Foreign Policy Think Tanks Summit

The Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), one of the leading think tanks in Brazil and the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) will co-sponsor a three-day conference at the University of Pennsylvania, the “G20 Foreign Policy Think Tanks Summit,” June 3-5.

Researchers and key officials from some of the world’s leading foreign policy think tanks will participate in the conference, one of a series of TTCSP organized professional exchanges focusing on the challenges facing developing countries and emerging powers and the think tanks that serve them.

Panelists will include Brazilian Ambassador to the United States Mauro Vieira; former Deputy Foreign Minister and Ambassador to the UN from Argentina Fernando Petrella; and Hideki Asari, deputy director-general of the Japan Institute of International Affairs and former minister at the Japanese Embassy in the United States.

James McGann, assistant director of Penn’s International Relations Program and director of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program said that the conference will bring together for the first time all the leading G20 foreign policy think tanks to collectively discuss international relations in a changing world order.

“We are confident that this summit will help inform national, regional and global debates on critical foreign policy issues while helping to forge closer ties between some of the leading G20 foreign policy think tanks,” he said.
