Penn Housing Office to Distribute Holiday Gifts To Families at West Philadelphia Shelters

WHO: The staff at the University of Pennsylvania's Office of Community Housing will deliver holiday gifts for children and adults in 21 families at two West Philadelphia shelters.

WHAT: Donations of newly purchased coats, shoes, pants, shirts, toys and even a Christmas tree with decorations were given by 75 sponsors from the Penn community and outside groups.

WHERE: The staff will load the gifts at the Community Housing office, 4046 Walnut St., in preparation for the trip to the shelters.  The shelter locations are kept secret from the public to protect the privacy and safety of the residents.

WHEN: 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23.

WHY: Each year the Housing Office staff reaches out to help community members in need.  In 2002, they volunteered at the Metropolitan AIDS Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance, helping with the preparation and distribution of food to Philadelphia residents with AIDS.
