Penn Police to Unveil New Backup Emergency Communications Center Tuesday
WHO: The Division of Public Safety at the University of Pennsylvania, in partnership with counterparts at the University City District, Drexel University, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Presbyterian Hospital, will unveil the new Multi-agency Emergency Radio Network.
WHAT: Reporters and photographers are invited to cover a demonstration of MERN. MERN is an improved level of communication, response coordination and mutual aid in the case of a critical incident for multiple agencies within the University City district. It has been an ongoing goal of Penn's Division of Public Safety and other members of University City District to develop a radio network that enables them to deliver even more timely law-enforcement and security services.

WHY: Through MERN the subscribing agencies now have direct emergency access to the Division of Public Safety during any crisis.
