Penn's Program to Bridge the Digital Divide uses technology to improve the quality of life in the West Philadelphia community. In addition to building computer labs from donated machines, Penn students work in the labs to support after-school programs, teach youth and adult computer literacy classes and train members of the community how to instruct their own computer courses.
Over the last several years the Bible Way Baptist Church Community Outreach Center has provided computer training for more than 150 community members aged 14-80. Most of their clients are older residents trying to re-enter the workforce and students who need to strengthen their computer skills. The new equipment will take the place of the center current, outdated computers.
