Penn TCPW to Present Beacon Award to Marjorie Rendell Friday at the Law School

WHO:  Marjorie O. Rendell, a judge with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and a 1969 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, will be honored with the 2005 Beacon Award from the Trustees' Council of Penn Women.

WHAT:  TCPW's Beacon Award, presented only six times in the past 18 years, recognizes an individual whose dedication and commitment to issues affecting women have achieved results.

WHY:  Marjorie Rendell exemplifies the mission of TCPW, established in 1987 as a national network of Penn alumnae who are leaders in their fields and are committed to supporting, fostering and promoting the advancement of women and their issues.  As first lady of the state, a law professional and former first lady of Philadelphia, Rendell has demonstrated these qualities in her work and her service to civic and arts organizations and the young people of the commonwealth.
