Penn Teaching Assistants to Receive Excellence Awards
April 25, 2005
PHILADELPHIA The University of Pennsylvania is honoring 12 graduate students for excellence in teaching.
Penn President Amy Gutmann and Interim Provost Peter Conn will present the Penn Prize for Excellence in Teaching by Graduate Students in a ceremony on April 28 at 4 p.m. at Penn's Graduate Student Center at 3615 Locust Walk.
The award recognizes excellence in teaching by graduate students across the University who, through their dedication to teaching, have had a profound impact on undergraduate education at Penn. The undergraduate students they teach nominate the winners. The winners will each receive a $500 award.
Former Penn President Judith Rodin, who continues to sponsor the prize, established the awards in 2000. The Council of Ivy Group Presidents chose to honor Dr. Rodin's legacy as President by funding two of the prizes this year.
