Penn Vet Added to United Way's List of Approved Charities
PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine has been added to the list of United Way charities to which individuals in the Philadelphia area may donate as part of a workplace campaign.
Within the Penn and Penn Medicine community, employees can contribute to United Way charities as part of the 2013 Penn’s Way campaign, which continues through Nov. 16. Penn employees can have their donations directly deducted from their salary on a one-time or recurring basis.
People outside of Penn who are participating in other Philadelphia-area workplace campaigns can also select Penn Vet as their charity of choice. The United Way identification number for Penn Vet is 50178, and it can also be found by searching the school’s name.
Penn Vet Dean Joan Hendricks said it’s particularly meaningful that Penn and Penn Medicine employees can now donate to the veterinary school, where many take their pets for care.
“We depend on our supporters,” Hendricks said. “Every dollar we receive helps our clients receive more affordable care for their pets. Every dollar helps us avoid charging our students more so they can graduate and do good work instead of paying down debt. The more support we get, the more we can do to fulfill our mission.”
Donations to Penn Vet or any of the other approved charities as part of the Penn’s Way campaign can be made at www.upenn.edu/pennsway.
