WHAT:

The Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development is a coalition of 36 colleges and universities in the greater Philadelphia area that work to strengthen service and service-learning communities. Based at the University of Pennsylvania’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships, the consortium seeks to revitalize local communities and schools and foster civic responsibility among the region's colleges and universities.

With a theme of “Crossing Boundaries Through Partnership,” the PHENND conference will cover such topics as multiculturalism and diversity, race, class and gender dynamics and equity issues in campus-community partnerships.

WHO:

Nicole Webster, associate professor in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University, will deliver the keynote address. Webster specializes in service-learning research, was recognized as a John Glenn Service-Learning Scholar and received the Emerging Scholar Award of International Conference in Service Learning Research.
