PHILADELPHIA — “Process in Print: The David and Susan Goode Collection,” which opens at the University of Pennsylvania’s Arthur Ross Gallery on Sept. 13, is an exhibit of 30 master prints dating from the early 20th century to the present that features various methods of printmaking, including aquatint, etching, intaglio, lithography, silkscreen, screenprint and woodblock.

The earliest work in the collection is Edward Hopper’s etching “The Locomotive, 1923” and the most recent, “Stump, 2000,” is a woodcut by the late Neil Welliver, a Penn professor emeritus.

Other artists in this exhibit include Thomas Hart Benton, Elizabeth Catlett, Hans Hofmann, Alex Katz, Robert Motherwell, Frank Stella and Andy Warhol.

Special events include a talk with the co-curators Brooks Johnson and Lynn Marsden-Atlass on Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m., a lecture on techniques on Oct. 2 at 4:30 p.m. and a lecture given by David and Susan Goode on Oct. 31 at 4 p.m.

“Process in Print” runs at the Arthur Ross Gallery, 220 S. 34th St., through Nov. 2.

David Goode is on the board of trustees at the Chrysler Museum of Art. Susan Goode is on the board of trustees at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Arthur Ross Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and weekends from noon-5 p.m. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
