Radnor School District Superintendent Named Director of Penn Center for Educational Leadership

PHILADELPHIA -- John A. DeFlaminis, retiring superintendent of the Radnor School District, has been named executive director of the Penn Center for Educational Leadership in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania.

"I'm honored to join the  senior staff team at the Graduate School of Education," DeFlaminis said, "and I'm confident that together we will accomplish great things to serve the needs of educators and schools in the future." DeFlaminis is set to leave his current position, which he held for 17 years, at the end of November. He will join Penn in January.

During DeFlaminis' tenure, the Radnor district's schools have been recognized as some of the finest in Pennsylvania, and in 1996 the U.S. Department of Education awarded Radnor High School a Blue Ribbon of Excellence.

"We are thrilled to be welcoming Dr. DeFlaminis to the Penn Center for Educational Leadership," said Susan H. Fuhrman, Penn GSE dean.  "He brings precisely the right mix of academic expertise and practical experience to this position, and we look forward to working with him in developing PCEL's program of professional-development opportunities for educators throughout the region."
