Tariq Ali to Speak at Penn Humanities Forum Feb. 18

Tariq Ali will address the topic "Fanaticism, Belief, Empires" at the Dr. S.T. Lee Distinguished Lecture, part of the Penn Humanities Forum series at the University of Pennsylvania.   Ali, a leading authority in the European New Left, is author of more than a dozen books on history and politics, including  "The Clash of Fundamentalisms: Crusades, Jihads and Modernity" and "Bush in Babylon: The Recolonization of Iraq."

He will examine both Islamic and Western fundamentalism and explain why many believe "the U.S. empire and its economic-military policies are the mother of all fundamentalisms," spawning the groups the empire now fights.
