Three Penn Lecturers Named American Institute of Architects Fellows
Lecturers Neil Denari, Scott Erdy and David McHenry of the University of Pennsylvania School of Design have been named to the American Institute of Architects’ prestigious College of Fellows. They are among 147 AIA members elected as 2015 Fellows.
The AIA fellowship program elevates architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession.
In Denari’s more than 30-year career, he has worked as a senior designer at James Stewart Polshek and Partners in New York, exhibited his work at numerous museums and galleries, and received international recognition for his work. At his firm, Neil M. Denari Architects in Los Angeles, Denari has focused on a diverse range of design endeavors that look at various issues pertaining to architectural speculation. He teaches graduate elective studios at PennDesign.
Erdy and McHenry, founders of the Philadelphia firm Erdy McHenry Architecture have won numerous professional honors including the AIA Philadelphia Gold Medal in 2001 for the Southern Poverty Law Center and the AIA Philadelphia Silver Medal in 2004 for Northern Liberties Housing.
Erdy and McHenry teach professional practice at Penn, offering an informed approach to the practice of architecture as an active component of responsive design rather than simply a context in which design happens.
The 2015 Fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the AIA Convention May 14-16 in Atlanta.
