WHAT:

As the Large Hadron Collider hums to life, scientists from over 70 countries discuss the future of high energy physics, string theory, black holes and the “God Particle” at the largest, invitation-only physics conference of the year.

ICHEP08 is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University and will include findings and research from around the world, in particular the large data sets from the BaBar Detector, Belle Collaboration, BEPCII/BES3, CLEO-c, HERA, RHIC, Tevatron and, most exciting, first results from CERN.

WHO:

More than 100 of the world’s leading particle physicists will attend. This year’s public lectures will be given by Edward Witten of the Institute for Advanced Study and Tejinder Virdee of the Imperial College of London and CERN.
