PHILADELPHIA – MAGPI, the University of Pennsylvania's Internet2 hub, is bringing advanced networking connectivity to the 2011 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia June 26-29.

ISTE 2011 is the world’s premier conference for K20 educators and education leaders engaged in advancing excellence in teaching and learning through innovative and effective uses of technology. The 2011 annual ISTE conference will be host to more than 14,000 visitors to Philadelphia from around the world who will convene for four days of conference sessions, hands-on educational workshops and live technology demonstrations.

MAGPI and the University also will be providing advanced networking connectivity to the conference floor at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and will feature three days of demonstrations of advanced networking in action for ISTE conference attendees. The demonstrations of advanced research and education networking in action are being organized by MAGPI in partnership with Internet2’s newly launched United States Unified Community Anchor Network (U.S. UCAN) project as well as in coordination with the Internet2 K20 initiative.

MAGPI and Penn have a history of provisioning advanced networking for ISTE conferences starting in 2005 when ISTE was last hosted in Philadelphia. During the 2005 ISTE conference attendees were able to view live demonstrations of networked pianos playing a duet in Philadelphia and Canada and much more. For the 2011 conference, MAGPI has lined up demonstrations featuring a live interactive connection with CERN, the home of the Large Hadron Collider, in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as demonstrations from the Library of Congress, the National Space Centre in the UK, and other live demonstrations of advanced networking in action for the international K20 education community.
