Her research centers on how gender, race and class affect status and occupation.

Carla Shultzberg has been named director of athletic communications. Since arriving as an intern in the Office of Athletic Communications in 1995, Schultzberg has moved to increasingly responsible jobs, including, most recently, media relations chair for the 2000 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four at the First Union Center. She was also media relations coordinator for the last three Penn Relay Carnivals. Schultzberg will continue to coordinate the athletics Web page and serve as editor of several athletic department publications, including the quarterly newsletter, PennSport!, and the Penn’s football and men’s basketball game-day programs.
