WHO SHE IS : Program Manager, Wharton Executive Education

TIME AT PENN: 3 ½ years

WHAT SHE DOES: Mackley schedules Wharton faculty to speak with business professionals attending Executive Education programs and liaises with faculty about program material. She also communicates with professionals about the logistics of their visit and works with the accommodations manager at the Steinberg Conference Center. “I am the manager of relationships,” she says. “You have to be a people-person.”

WHAT IS EXECUTIVE EDUCATION? : Mackley explains it’s the non-profit revenue generating center of Wharton where everyone from mid-level managers to suite-level executives attends workshops and gets the latest research on running a business. Professionals can stay in the full-service on-site hotel, which also features a chef and gym.

ANY DOWN TIME?: Mackley says there aren’t many weeks out of the year when they’re not running programs—and they sometimes accommodate as many as seven different groups at a time, not counting the off-site programs in India and China.

FRESH FACES: “I think it’s such a luxurious thing to be able to come into your work,” she says, “and have anywhere from 20 to 75 new people who I’m working with.”
