Penn and Philadelphia Fire Department host campus safety event

To ensure the safety of Penn students, faculty and staff, Penn Public Safety partners with the Philadelphia Fire Department in maintaining campus fire safety preparedness.

On Thursday, Sept. 17, as part of the national campaign for campus fire safety and emergency preparedness, Penn Public Safety and city fire officials will fan out across campus to distribute safety literature and stress the importance of having working smoke detectors. They also will answer questions about how best to prevent fires and what to do in the event of a fire. The Philadelphia Fire Department’s new Fire Safety Trailer will be on campus at 36th and Walnut Streets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering students, faculty, staff and visitors tours and more information about home fire safety.

Penn’s Fire and Emergency Services routinely inspect buildings and fire alarms on campus, supervise mandatory evacuation drills and monitor and inspect all elevators and campus emergency phones.
