Deputy Treasury Sec. Neal S. Wolin speaks at Wharton about financial reform
United States Treasury Deputy Secretary Neal S. Wolin, one of the key architects of the Obama administration’s financial reform bill, will speak about the historic legislation at the Wharton School on Thursday, Aug. 5, at 3:30 p.m.
In a speech that is open to the public, Wolin is expected to deliver remarks on the recent enactment of the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and engage in a question-and-answer dialogue with students, faculty and business leaders.
Wolin, who previously served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Counsel to the President for Economic Policy, is credited with helping President Obama develop strategy to get the new regulations through Congress. According to The Washington Post, Wolin deftly negotiated with key lawmakers to resolve what seemed to be an impasse over state enforcement powers, eventually leading widely divided representatives to an acceptable middle ground.
Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner told the newspaper that Wolin “does understand Washington better than anybody.”
Wolin will speak at the Dhirubhai Ambani Auditorium in Jon M. Huntsman Hall, 3730 Walnut St. The event is open to the public on a first-come basis.
