Discount flu shots for full- and part-time Penn faculty and staff

Got time for a flu shot? It will only take a minute.

The Division of Human Resources is partnering with Occupational Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to provide on-campus flu shots at a discounted rate for full- and part-time Penn faculty and staff.

Flu shots will be administered at three locations: the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Wharton School and the School of Nursing.

The vaccines, which cost $25 cash, are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, Wednesday, Nov. 10, and Tuesday, Nov. 16. A PennCard is required. Remember to wear clothes that provide easy access to your upper arm.

“Since we started this program in 1998, we’ve distributed nearly 12,400 shots,” says Jack Heuer, vice president for Human Resources. “It’s just one of the many benefits we provide to promote health and wellness on Penn’s campus.”

Faculty and staff must pre-register online in order to receive a flu shot. To pre-register, visit the Human Resources online course catalog and choose “Health Promotions” from the Browse by Category section. Next, review the flu shot time slots and location options. Select your preferred date and time, and a full description will appear. A PennKey is required.

Time slots fill up quickly, so faculty and staff are encouraged to pre-register as soon as possible. The first and last time slots typically fill first, so it is wise to select a time in the middle of the shot schedule.

Faculty and staff are also welcome to join students receiving shots at Student Health Service’s (SHS) flu vaccine clinic scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hoover Lounge in Vance Hall, 3733 Spruce St. No appointment is necessary.

Flu shots provided through SHS also cost $25. Faculty and staff must pay in cash at the clinic.
