Serendipitous Path Opens Doors to an Education at Penn
Jason Morgan held a variety of jobs through his 30s, but it was a job lay-off during the economic downturn that led him to the University of Pennsylvania. In 2009, Morgan lost his job as a wedding photographer but soon found a job as a clerk at a restaurant on the Penn campus.
For the Record: Sergeant Hall
Sergeant Hall, formerly located at 34th and Chestnut streets, was built in 1900 as an upscale apartment building named The Essex. Penn purchased the building in 1924 and opened its first dorm for women during a decade when the number of women students at the University was on the rise.

Penn Students Share Stories Through Rap Music
For members of the Korean rap group Klass, expressing themselves through their music is empowering them to learn new skills and inspiring them to pursue their passions. When the group’s founder James An, was 10, his family moved from Gwangmyeong-Si, South Korea, to Vancouver, British Columbia, and as he was adapting to life in Canada he would emulate rap performers such as Eminem.

The senior class leadership awards are among the oldest traditions at Penn. The Spoon, Bowl, Cane, and Spade awards honor men who are elected by their fellow students to recognize their outstanding service to the University community.
Three Penn Lecturers Named American Institute of Architects Fellows
Lecturers Neil Denari, Scott Erdy and David McHenry of the University of Pennsylvania School of Design have been named to the American Institute of Architects’ prestigious College of Fellows. They are among 147 AIA members elected as 2015 Fellows.
