Coney Island boardwalk helps reconstruct Steinberg-Dietrich trellis

When it became apparent that Steinberg Hall-Dietrich Hall’s iconic trellis along Locust Walk needed replacing, the hunt began to find a hard wood that would stand up to local temperature extremes and the punishment of wisteria vines. Ipe wood (pronounced ee-pay) salvaged from the reconstruction of the Coney Island boardwalk—pre-Hurricane Sandy—fit the bill.

A new cloud of information rolls onto campus

A cloud has parked itself over Penn, and it’s a good thing. As of now, every member of the University community has access to Penn+Box, a cloud-based file sharing and storage service provided by the Office of Information Systems and Computing (ISC).

During Penn’s 2012 Power Down Challenge, held Oct. 31 through Nov. 18, the University community saved enough energy to power 162 average homes in the region for the 19 days of the contest.

Reception Brings Penn Students, Financial Aid Donors Together

Two senior undergraduate scholarship recipients at the University of Pennsylvania shared their personal collegiate journeys as they and more than 250 other scholarship beneficiaries met with their benefactors and guests at the Fall 2012 Scholarship Celebration this month.  It was an evening of making acquaintances, renewing friendships and cementing bonds.
