The University of Pennsylvania's 254th Commencement was held on Monday, May 17, 2010, in Franklin Field, located at 33rd and South Streets.
President Amy Gutmann officiated Penn's 254th Commencement Exercises. The Honorable Jon M. Huntsman Jr., U.S. ambassador to China, delivered the Commencement address and received the honorary doctor of laws degree. Also receiving Honorary Doctoral Degrees this year were: Sandra M. Faber, Paul Farmer, Abdullah Ibrahim, Risa J. Lavizzo-Mourey, Greg Mortenson, Peter C. Nowell, and James S. Riepe.

In honor of Valentine's Day, and as a way of fostering community in her Shakespeare in Love course, Becky Friedman took her students to the University Club for lunch one class period. They talked about the movie "Shakespeare in Love," as part of a broader conversation on how Shakespeare's works are adapted.
