The word-pairing “school and summer” may sound discordant to the ears of many students, but here at Penn, summer activity lends a special harmony to campus—be it birds splashing in a century-old fountain, faculty planning their fall courses, or students mentoring West Philadelphia youth.

This summer, two undergraduate students at the University of Pennsylvania are examining crimes throughout history and how those events resulted in controversial legislative changes.

Point-of-care glucose meters, or glucometers, have revolutionized the landscape for diabetics and practitioners. Using only a small drop of blood to measure blood glucose in an instant, they make it easier for people with diabetes to maintain their levels in a healthy range. Pet owners, too, sometimes rely on glucometers to monitor their diabetic animals.
