The Division of Human Resources (HR) has announced the 2015 Models of Excellence Program Award winners, an initiative introduced in 1999 to recognize notable staff member accomplishments at Penn that reflect initiative, leadership, increased efficiency, and a deep commitment to service.

This year’s Models of Excellence winners are the Penn Green Campus Partnership Team and the Quaker Days Team.

The Green Campus Partnership Team was selected for the above-and-beyond contributions of each group member in the achievement of integrating sustainability into coursework, community, and campus planning, design, and operations.

The Quaker Days Team was honored for the tireless work and unprecedented level of cooperation between University schools and centers to provide extraordinary service to Penn’s admitted students to encourage enrollment and showcase student life at the University.

2015 honorable mentions were given to the ARCH Team for collaborating on a solution to transform the ARCH building into a destination spot, bringing people together and fostering cultural diversity, awareness, education, and community.

Hoag Levins of the Wharton School was an honorable mention for his initiative and creativity in executing a comprehensive multimedia communication and promotional program for the Summer Undergraduate Minority Research (SUMR) Program operated by the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics.

The Singh Center for Nanotechnology Team was recognized for planning, designing, and constructing a state-of-the-art nanotechnology facility that engages the local, national, and global research community.

Introduced in 2014, the Pillars of Excellence Award recognizes the strong foundation and important support Penn’s weekly-paid staff members provide to promote the University’s success.

The 2015 Pillars of Excellence award winner is Michelle Majeski of the Business Services Division for her leadership and exemplary customer service, as well as her optimism, kindness, and respect of others as the Rodin College House resident manager.

2015 Pillars of Excellence honorable mentions were awarded to the team of Mary Dowds and Najah Munson in the Business Services Division for their professional skills, integrity, compassion and nurturing as the Penn Children’s Center’s Lead Teachers.

Michael Rosato of Facilities & Real Estate Services was also honored for playing a significant part in the day-to-day operations in the Franklin Building where safety and service is the top priority in his role as custodian.

Each Models of Excellence and Pillars of Excellence winner receives $500 and a symbolic award. Honorable mentions receive $250 and a symbolic award.

The Model Supervisor Award finalists will be announced in March. The award recipient will be announced live on stage at the Models of Excellence Award Ceremony on March 24 in Irvine Auditorium. All members of the campus community are invited.
