Center for High Impact Philanthropy at Penn Releases Year-End Giving Guide
The Center for High Impact Philanthropy at the University of Pennsylvania has released a free online guide for donors who want to know that their year-end giving will make the biggest difference in the lives of others.
Whether a donor has $10, $100 or $1 million to contribute, the Center’s “High Impact Year-End Giving” 2014 guide assists donors in supporting meaningful social change through giving opportunities that include:
- Providing home visits for low-income, first-time mothers, via programs such as the Nurse-Family Partnership. A cost-benefit analysis of the program shows that for every $1 invested, yields $5.70 in returns. That is, for every high-risk family served through the program and those like it, society saw $34,148 in net benefits from increased tax revenues and reductions in expense related to crime, welfare and other social costs.
- Supplying life-saving vaccines to children for preventable diseases like measles and rubella.
- Expanding access to high-quality early-learning program for vulnerable children and families.
- Creating a bridge from high school to college for low-income and minority students via partnerships between high schools and local colleges.
- Saving lives through community-based primary health care.
The guide also explores new ways to approach disaster relief, considering both the immediate and longer-term needs of those affected and provides tips on how donors can translate their year-end giving to have year-round impact.
Sponsors who assisted in the distribution of the guide include U.S. Trust/Bank of America Private Wealth Management, Annie E. Casey Foundation, Fidelity Charitable and Wilmington Trust.
“High Impact Year-End Giving” has also been featured in Money magazine and a special family philanthropy-oriented supplement in Forbes.
