Rising sophomore Eduardo Malinowski was recently selected by Collegiate Baseball for its Freshman All-American team. He was the only Ivy League player to be so honored by the newspaper.
A left fielder, second baseman, and designated hitter from Spring, Texas, Malinowski started 40 of 41 games and batted .347 with 59 hits, 20 RBIs, 24 runs, 5 stolen bases, and 2 home runs. He also had a team-leading 19 multi-hit games, and his 11-game hit streak tied for the team high.
Facing Harvard on April 8 in Cambridge, Mass., he had 5 hits and 2 runs in the Quakers’ 6-5 victory. Versus Cornell on April 22 at Meiklejohn Stadium, he went yard twice—once in the first inning and again in the third—and knocked in 3 runs. Across four games in April against La Salle and Cornell, Malinowski went 10-of-18 with 6 RBIs and 2 home runs.
Consistently batting at the top of the order, Malinowski was also named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Big 5 Rookie of the Year, First-Team All-Ivy, Second-Team All-ECAC, and Second-Team All-Big 5. He was a two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week and a one-time Big Five Player of the Week.
