A guard for the Surrey Scorchers, Hicks led his team to an unbeaten February and a 3-1 record in March. He averaged a league-leading 26.3 points and 9 assists per game in February, and 20.3 points and 7.3 assists per game in March.

“It feels really good,” Hicks said when notified of the award. “It’s an honor to have people think of me so highly, just being the underdog or second-best my whole life.

“But this, honestly, is a team award,” he added. “If we don’t win games, then there is no chance that I get this award.”

In a Feb. 25 matchup versus the Cheshire Phoenix, Hicks had 25 points and 8 assists, guiding the Scorchers to a 111-94 victory.

Against the Manchester Giants on March 30, he had 33 points and 11 assists in a 96-94 win.

Hicks is currently the third-leading scoring in the BBL, averaging 18.9 points per contest, and fifth in assists with 5.8 per game.

Across three seasons at Penn, Hicks, from South Holland, Ill., started 64 games and scored 1,060 points. He led the team in scoring as a sophomore and junior, averaging 14.9 and 13.2 points per game, respectively.
