On April 29, second-year students gathered on High Rise Field at Harrison College House to celebrate making it halfway: As the last semester in their second year winds down, the Class of 2027 is at the midpoint in their four-year journey to graduate. To celebrate, each second-year class has gathered as a whole since 2019 as the sun sets to mark their transition from second- to third-year students.
Provost John L. Jackson, Jr. addressed the students and congratulated them for their perseverance, followed by the Class Board of 2027, who led the traditional lantern exercise, asking students to shine their lights when their school—the College, Engineering and Applied Science, Nursing, or Wharton—was named, followed by detailed questions about their life at Penn, and “if you know, you know” questions specific to their cohort.
This year’s celebration included live performances by West Powelton Steppers and Drum Squad and catered food by Pita Chip, while Tap Snap Philly shot candid and group shots of friends.
