Each year, the University honors student leaders who are graduating from Penn with two awards: the President & Provost’s Honor for Developing New Initiatives in Graduate & Professional Student Life and the Dr. Andy Binns Award for Outstanding Service to Graduate and Professional Student Life.
This year, 13 graduating students are being recognized for their service and lasting contributions to graduate student life at Penn, and will be celebrated at a May 12 event at the Graduate Student Center.
The recipients of the 2022-23 Graduate Student Leadership Awards for 2022-23 are: Dawn Adrian (MSEd in education); Kelly Diaz (Ph.D. in communication), Elizabeth Dunens (Ph.D. in education); Rina Kim (Ph.D. in immunology, BGS in medicine); Alison Knasin (Ph.D. in chemistry); Jorge (Jay) Ortiz-Carpena (Ph.D. in immunology, BGS in medicine); Hoang Anh Phan (Ph.D. in chemistry); Christine Quattro (Ph.D. in city and regional planning), Deepa Ramadurai (MSHP in medicine); Shreyas Ramesh (MSE in engineering); Keshara Senanayake (JD in law); Aalok Thakkar (Ph.D. in computer and information science); and Blake Tobias, Jr. (MHCI in medicine).
The President & Provost’s Honor for Developing New Initiatives in Graduate & Professional Student Life is presented to students who have initiated lasting new developments that have enhanced graduate and professional student life at Penn. The Dr. Andy Binns Impact Award for Outstanding Service to Graduate and Professional Student Life is presented to graduate or professional students, upon their graduation from Penn, who have significantly impacted graduate and professional student life through service involvement in student life initiatives or organizations.
