Field hockey team quiets Owls in city showdown

On Sunday at Ellen Vagelos Field, the Penn field hockey team bested the Temple Owls 3-0.

Only three minutes in, junior back Alexa Schneck scored on an assist from senior midfielder Paige Meily at the top of the circle.

Sophomore midfielder Erin Kelly scored in the 51st minute of the second half, assisted by sophomore forward Jordyn Thies.

Schneck scored her second goal of the game in the 60th minute, assisted by Kelly.

Penn had 23 shots and 14 shots on goal, and held Temple to 1 shot and 0 shots on goal.

Kelly had 4 shots, 3 shots on goal, 1 goal, and 1 assist.

Schneck had 5 shots, 2 shots on goal, and 2 goals.

The Quakers sit at .500 overall (5-5) and in Ivy League play (1-1). They take on Dartmouth next on Saturday, Oct. 6, in Hanover, N.H.
