Penn and Lehigh faced off in a soccer showdown last weekend in Bethlehem that ended in a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes, including two overtime periods. Senior goalkeeper Scott Forbes tied his career high with six saves in the match. For his performance, he has been named Philadelphia Soccer Six Defensive Player of the Week.
Lehigh had 17 shots and 6 shots on goal. Forbes’ shutout, his third in five games, lowers his goals against average to 0.715 per game. He is the current Ivy League leader in shutouts (3) and save percentage (.826), and third in GAA.
A native of Chatham, N.J., Forbes played and started in 12 matches last season and had 29 saves, including six against Lehigh and Yale.
The 2-1-2 Quakers conclude their four-game road trip on Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. against Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
