In a video message to the Penn community, Penn President J. Larry Jameson introduces Penn Forward, the University’s strategic planning initiative that builds on the progress of In Principle and Practice and boldly addresses the opportunities and challenges of the present moment in higher education. The initiative reflects a need to be proactive rather than reactive, explains Jameson, and evokes Penn’s history of adapting to the world’s changing needs.
Penn Forward consists of six working groups that will develop transformational and implementable recommendations for Penn’s future in six subject areas: Undergraduate Education and Innovation, Graduate and Professional Training, Research Strategy and Financing, Global Opportunity and New Markets, Access, Affordability and Value, and Operational Transformation. The entire Penn community is invited to contribute ideas and ask questions as these working groups fulfill their charge this fall.
"Together, we will shape Penn’s future and propel Penn forward,” says Jameson.

In honor of Valentine's Day, and as a way of fostering community in her Shakespeare in Love course, Becky Friedman took her students to the University Club for lunch one class period. They talked about the movie "Shakespeare in Love," as part of a broader conversation on how Shakespeare's works are adapted.
