WHAT: The University of Pennsylvania will be among eight organizations statewide to be honored for their green-power purchases at PennFuture’s annual Green Power Awards luncheon. Businesses and institutions that are taking the lead in creating new renewable supply and are advancing policies that develop the renewable energy market will also be honored.

PHILADELPHIA –- At today’s ServiceNation Summit in New York, University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann joined other college and university presidents in committing their institutions to increased national service.

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania’s central computing organization, Information Systems and Computing, has received certification from the International Organization for Standardization for its data center, the first in the Ivy League to do so.

WHAT: PennGreen, a week-long pre-orientation pilot leadership training program designed to provide selected University of Pennsylvania upperclassmen with information and skills they can use to give future incoming freshmen an environmental introduction to the campus and Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA – In its annual “100 Best Places to Work in IT” survey, Computerworld Magazine has named the University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Information Systems and Computing the No. 1 employer for information-technology professionals in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the fourth consecutive year.

PHILADELPHIA –- The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine has honored three people with the annual Alumni Award of Merit for 2008: Marc Ackerman of Jacksonville, Fla., Leonard Cole of Ridgewood, N.J., and Rowland Hutchinson of Louisville, Ky.
