Callaloo Conference

The Department of English and several other cosponsors from the University present this commemoration of the 1619 arrival of the first enslaved Africans at Point Comfort, Virginia Colony. Panels and a keynote will discuss advancements in the academic study of the African Diaspora and the reverberations of 1619 into the present. Registration is requested.

Fair and Impartial Judiciary

In a one-day conference on the importance of an independent and impartial judiciary, former Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, Penn Law Dean Theodore Ruger, and several sitting judges share their thoughts on the fundamentals of the judiciary. The conference opens with remarks from Penn President Amy Gutmann and Marjorie Rendell, and former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell.

#FromNO2Love

The #FromNO2Love: Black Feminist Centered Forum on Disrupting Sexual Violence celebrates the 25th anniversary of “NO! The Rape Documentary” and the 2019 release of the anthology “Love WITH Accountability: Digging Up the Roots of Child Sexual Abuse.” The works mark a monumental discussion about diasporic black survivors of adult rape and child sexual abuse.

Let's Go to Egypt

Designed for families with children ages 3 to 6, this morning program tells illustrated stories in the Museum's galleries, using the exhibits, artifact reproductions, and hands-on activities. During this gathering, children discover “We’re Sailing Down the Nile,” by Laurie Krebs and Anne Wilson, and explore the Egypt Gallery.
