New measures to protect the health and safety of the Penn community

In the face of the urgent public health crisis caused by COVID-19, the University of Pennsylvania is instituting new measures to protect the health and safety of our community, as well as to maintain the capability of our health system. All researchers should immediately prepare to discontinue all nonessential on-campus research activities on or before March 17. Our research efforts to combat COVID-19 will continue, and they represent an example of the very limited essential research that should continue.

This includes all Quaker Day events scheduled for April 6 and April 15, and Multicultural Scholars Preview programming scheduled for April 14.
Planning to travel over spring break?

Planning to travel over spring break?

Spring Break is imminent, and I know many families are debating students’ travel plans in light of the fast-evolving global coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Yesterday, Penn advised all community members against travel to China, Italy, Iran, and South Korea. Any student visiting these countries must self-isolate for two weeks upon return, missing class and assignments. Amid this uncertainty, any travel, domestic or international, could heighten your risk of exposure. If conditions change in a location you visit over break, you may incur travel delays and mandatory quarantines.
