Doing his best Klay Thompson impression, Kuba Mijakowski, a junior forward on the men’s basketball team, lit up the Temple Owls in the first half of Saturday’s 77-70 win, swishing all four of his three pointers. His 14 points in the half—he was 2-2 from the foul line—helped the Quakers enter intermission with a 10-point lead. The victory earned the Red & Blue a share of their first Big 5 title since the 2001-02 season.

For his exploits, Mijakowski has been selected Big 5 Co-Player of the Week.

A native of Warsaw, Poland, Mijakowski’s 14 points against Temple were a career high. He also had two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Penn defeated the Owls for the first time in 12 tries, dating back to the 2006-07 season.

The 11-6 Quakers conclude Big 5 play on Saturday against Saint Joseph’s at the Palestra. A win will clinch the undisputed Big 5 championship.
