A legend on the field, Hoover joins field hockey staff

Alexa Hoover, the all-time leading scorer in Penn field hockey history, has joined the University’s field hockey staff as director of operations.

May graduate Alexa Hoover, the all-time leader in Penn field hockey history in goals (68) and points (163), has joined the Penn field hockey staff as the new director of operations. Her responsibilities include planning the team’s travel, assisting in film breakdown, and managing administrative tasks for the team. 

A four-year starter and a four-time First-Team All-Ivy selection, Hoover ranks fourth all-time in Ivy League history in goals and points, and was a two-time NFHCA All-American.

From Collegeville, Pa., Hoover has also played for the U.S. Women’s National Development Squad and the U.S. National Indoor Team. In January, she was one of 21 players picked for the U.S. Women’s National Development Squad. In May, she was part of the USA Field Hockey tour roster that traveled to Santiago, Chile, for a four-game series.

The field hockey team opens its 2018 season on Friday, Aug. 31, versus Wake Forest as part of the Conference Crossover at 2 p.m. at Ellen Vagelos Field. The Quakers take on North Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Ellen Vagelos Field. Penn opens Ivy League play on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Cornell. 

Two All-Ivy players are returning to the team from last year’s squad: Senior Paige Meily and junior Alexa Schneck.
