Looking like his favorite running back, Le’Veon Bell of the Pittsburgh Steelers, junior running back Karekin Brooks had 16 carries for 163 yards (10.2 yards per carry) and 3 touchdowns in the Penn football team’s 30-10 win over Lehigh on Saturday at Franklin Field.
After a scoreless first quarter, Brooks found the end zone twice in the second, on a 5-yard run to put the Quakers up 6-3, and a 1-yard run to give Penn a 13-3 lead.
At half, the Red & Blue led the Mountain Hawks 13-10.
For the second straight week, the Quaker defense was on its job, surrendering 0 second half points, and collecting seven sacks and nine tackles for loss.
Sophomore quarterback Ryan Glover scored on a 17-yard scamper in the third quarter, which pushed Penn’s lead to 20-10. A field goal by senior placekicker Jack Soslow in the fourth and a 75-yard romp by Brooks made the final score 30-10.
Glover completed 16 of 31 passes for 206 yards, and had 12 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Senior linebacker Nick Miller had 10 tackles (6 solo), 1 sack, and 1 tackle for loss.
The Quakers amassed 500 total yards—206 passing and 294 rushing—and held Lehigh to 298.
Penn opens Ivy League play on Saturday, Sept. 29, versus Dartmouth in New Hampshire.
