Two field goals from deep—one from 49 yards and another from 48 yards—in the Penn football team’s season-opening win over Bucknell have garnered senior placekicker Jack Soslow Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week.

In the first quarter of Saturday’s game at Franklin Field, Soslow nailed a 49-yard field goal to put the Quakers up 10-0.

Soslow drove a 48-yarder through the uprights in the second quarter to give the Red & Blue a 20-3 lead. He also connected on all four of his extra points, and has made 40 straight PATs.

His 49- and 48-yard field goals are tied for sixth- and 10th-longest in Penn football history, respectively. So far this season, he is the only FCS kicker with multiple field goals of 48-plus yards.

Dating to last season, Soslow has made eight consecutive field goals. He owns three of the Top 10 longest field goals in program history, including a 51-yarder against Brown this past October. (Record-holder Tim Mazzetti kicked two 54-yarders in 1976).

A 2017 First-Team All-Ivy selection, Soslow led the conference in field goals made (10) and field goal percentage (83.3), and was a perfect 36-for-36 on extra points.
