Kleinman Gift Establishes Energy Policy Center at Penn

The Kleinman Center for Energy Policy has been established at PennDesign with a $10 million gift from Scott, C’94, W’94, and Wendy Kleinman. The Center, which is scheduled to launch in Fall 2014, will advance energy productivity by reframing the relationship between research and practice in support of policy innovation.

Penn Lends Support to National ‘Maker Movement’

In conjunction with the first White House Maker Faire being held today, the University of Pennsylvania signed a joint letter along with more than 150 other institutions, pledging support to foster a “generation of makers.” The letter details the need for young tinkerers, inventors and entrepreneurs to bring life to future innovations.

Practicing What She Teaches, Penn Alum Is Award-winning Film Editor

When the winners of the 2013 Peabody Awards for excellence in broadcasting were announced late last month, Nancy Novack, a University of Pennsylvania alum and a lecturer of fine arts in the School of Design, had cause to celebrate. A film series she edited, the PBS TV documentary “The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross with Henry Louis Gates Jr.” won a Peabody.
